The day finally arrived for our house hunting trip. It feels like we have been talking about it foreverrrr, but now it has come and gone. We flew out for just 3 days to scope out places to live, so our schedule was packed!
Zach has been doing his research, he literally has found every place possible online. During his classes he would get on google earth and get off on every metro stop and go down the streets looking for housing... haha! Such a dedicated husband. So before we came we narrowed down our options and made a game plan of what we wanted to see.
Sunday was our first day, so we went to one of the wards that we could be in, and then went straight to brunch at Founding Farmers (sooo yummy). There were only a couple of places that were open on Sunday so we went to those ones, and we were VERY disappointed/horrified. I was starting to think I better not put in my 2 weeks notice at work, because I'm not going anywhere! I think Zach could sense my panic so we went to just drive by some of the places we were going to see the next day... and they looked SO much better! Needless to say I was anxious to get going the next day to see what the options were.
The next day the very first place we went to we fell in love. It was the cutest townhouse in a perfect little community. It is in Arlington so it's a pretty easy commute for Zach as well. We were pretty sure this is where we wanted to live, but we kept looking just so we could have some other options in case that one didn't work out.
We also made sure to get a yummy treat every day, and there were so many good places around! My favorite was Sugar Shack where we got donuts. The only problem is, it is about 5 min away from where we will probably live, so I will need a lot of self control to live there. If that's not an incentive to get people to visit us, I don't know what is!
One night we went to Georgetown and walked around, shopped, and went to dinner (and of course got cupcakes from Baked & Wired).
We were at the gym one morning while we were there, and this flyer was on the bathroom stall. The odds are, it will be absolutely necessary for me.
Now it is just a waiting game. Our top 2 choices told us they will know the availability in about 3 weeks, so I'm hoping it will all work out! Cross your fingers for us!
